As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations the group recently donated $25,000 to the “Because of Jenna Trust”. Mr. Tom O'Sullivan, General Manager and Actuary of The Canada Life Assurance Company (Barbados Branch) and Mr. Gabriel Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of London Life and Casualty (Barbados) Corporation recently made the presentation to Mrs. Anna Clarke, Trustee of the “Because of Jenna Trust”.
The trust was formed in January 2004 in memory of Jenna Leigh Clarke (1990 to 2001), the daughter of Garry and Anna Clarke, who fought a long battle with Cerebral Palsy and eventually cancer.
The Trust provides financial assistance to:
- “Because of Jenna Respite Centre” which employs an Administrator, a therapist and two care givers. Currently 5 children are benefitting from the center.
- Wheelchair clinic in which Wheelchair Professionals bring their equipment and services to Barbados to provide wheelchairs and customized inserts for a number of children who are physically challenged.
- Orthopedic Surgeon Consultation and Surgery supporting annual visits by an experienced Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon where up to 32 children with physical disabilities are seen. The surgeon also performs surgeries for approximately 5 children annually.
- Pampers donates disposable diapers and wipes to approximately 65 children.
